Fuel Consumption Optimization of Heavy-duty Vehicles: an Analytical Approach
In this paper, we establish a mathematical framework that allows us to optimize the speed profile and select the optimal gears for heavy-duty vehicles. The key idea is to solve the analogous boundary value problem analytically for a simple scenario (linear damped system with quadratic elevation profile) and use this result to initialize a numerical continuation algorithm. Then the numerical alg...
متن کاملOptimal power management of fuel cell hybrid vehicles
This paper presents a control strategy developed for optimizing the power flow in a Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle structure. This method implements an on-line power management based on the optimal fuzzy controller between dual power sources that consist of a battery bank and a Fuel Cell (FC). The power management strategy in the hybrid control structure is crucial for balancing between efficiency an...
متن کاملModeling and Optimal Control of Heavy-Duty Powertrains
Heavy duty powertrains are complex systems with components from various domains, different response times during transient operations and different efficient operating ranges. To ensure efficient transient operation of a powertrain, e.g. with low fuel consumption or short transient duration, it is important to come up with proper control strategies. In this dissertation, optimal control theory ...

Energy management for systems presenting at least two energy sources is still a challenge. Moreover in Hybrid Electrical Vehicle the power must be managed in real time within system constraints. Energy management is based on efficiency models and data of both sources as function of the delivered power. With efficiency behavior knowledge, an optimization can be made. Logic rules are presented al...

Starting from the premise that new consumer value must drive hydrogen-fuel-cell-vehicle (H2FCV) commercialization, a group of opportunities ollectively called “Mobile Electricity” is characterized. Mobile Electricity (Me-) redefines H2FCVs as innovative products able to import and xport electricity across the traditional vehicle boundary. Such vehicles could provide home recharging and mobile p...
